You are invited to the public memorial service for Professor David Cooper AO, 1949 - 2018

To celebrate the life and work of a global leader in HIV research and clinical care, please join us at the public memorial for Professor David Cooper.  Professor Cooper dedicated his life to the prevention, treatment and cure of HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases. These diseases disproportionately affect the world’s most disadvantaged communities, and Professor Cooper firmly advocated health as a fundamental human right in all of his endeavours. He was a leading clinician and researcher, a dedicated director, mentor and friend. He left an indelible impact on countless lives.

On behalf of the Cooper family and the organisations below, we hope you can join us in commemorating the extraordinary life of Professor David Cooper AO.

David Cooper Symposium: Treatment and prevention access for all

In addition to the public memorial, you are invited to join us for a scientific symposium in honour of Professor David Cooper’s outstanding contributions to infectious disease research.  Professor Cooper initiated ground-breaking, collaborative infectious disease research that has saved countless lives throughout the world.  This symposium brings together colleagues and friends of Professor Cooper to reflect on a topic that was central to his research endeavours: expanding access to effective infectious disease prevention and treatment.

Speakers include Professor Linda-Gail BekkerPresident, International AIDS Society, Deputy Director, Desmond Tutu HIV Centre, University of Cape Town, South Africa; H. Clifford Lane M.D., Deputy Director, National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, United States of America; Professor Praphan Phanuphak, Director, HIV-NAT (HIV Netherlands Australia Thailand Research Collaboration), Thailand……more to be announced.
